*What is a Nurse Practitioner (NP)?*
Nurse Practitioners are Registered Nurses who have additional education and experience that enables them to:
independently diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, perform medical procedures, and make specialist referrals

*Who would benefit from seeing a pediatric NP?*
Any infants, children or new mothers who do not have a family physician or cannot get in to see their family physician in a timely manner.

Those who are more comfortable with seeking care with longer scheduled appointment times in a wellness centre atmosphere.

*Does OHIP cover NP care?*
No, NPs can provide OHIP services such as specialist referrals, tests, immunizations, and prescriptions, however, the NP visit itself is NOT covered (fees may be covered by your extended health plans for nursing care, similar to the process for physiotherapy or massage).

Do I need a referral?
No you do not. However, your insurance company may require one for fee reimbursement. Please check with your provider.

Book a complimentary 15 min consult to discuss your needs and see if NP care is good fit. A referral can be provided if you require one for extended health plan coverage.

Many insurance companies and some employee benefit plans cover these types of services, including Nurse Practitioner services. Please contact your insurance company to inquire about your coverage. Payment for Nurse Practitioner services is due before the appointment. The NP is not responsible for the cost of sessions that are later found to not be covered by an insurance plan.

From an early age my inclination to help others was so strong that my mother would refer to me as the “little mother.” I had a particular fascination with caring for babies. As I got older and started thinking about my future career, I knew that I wanted to do something that would allow me to have a positive impact on pregnant women and the paediatric population.

My passion for maternal-child health has led me to work in underserviced communities as a labour & delivery, postpartum and pediatric nurse to one of Toronto’s prominent neonatal intensive care units.

In my practice I use an evidence based and research driven approach, that is also holistic in nature to provide the best comprehensive care. I also place a value on the maternal-infant combined care. I am passionate about improving the ease of access to quality postpartum medical support and meeting the needs of newborns, moms and their families wherever they are.
